World Heart Day - 28th Sept, 2008

Time to know our risk!!!
Heart diseases are world's number one killer!! Just by reducing salt intake to half a spoon will save millions of life!
Also, scientists have found that a boost in vitamin C intake has been shown to cut the risk of death from heart disease.
Fresh fruit such as oranges, grapefruit, apples and bananas and green vegetables are good sources of vitamin C. This again emphasizes that a balanced diet containing at least five portions of fruit or vegetables daily will provide all the vitamin C that the body needs, plus many more beneficial vitamins and minerals. What could be better than a full glass of good things: a fruit or vegetable smoothie. This directly caters to your 2-3 portions of fruit/vegetable need.

Innocent Smoothies

A very successful chain of smoothies in UK. They introduced pre-packaged form of smoothies. They have been very innovative with their product and thats why they deserve to be where they are. They believe in pure fruit smoothies. Also, they recently introduced "vegetable pots"!! Together it makes 3-4 portions of your daily need for vegetables and fruits.

I am a big fan of innocent (even though I haven't tasted it yet) and regret to see an absence of such chains in India.
For something like this to be successful, we Indians....
We have to become more health aware!!
We have to give up fried food like Samosas, Chola Bhatura, Chaat etc. and move towards more healthier options!!
We should know that a daily 5 portion of vegetable and fruit is an essential to lead a healthy life!!
We have to give up our sweet tooth. Most of the fruit juices available in the market are all loaded with sugar because it caters to a typical Indian customer!!

I am sure most of us are not even aware of this 5 A day thing....but believe me if you start following the above, you will get rid of many of your health related problems.

My First One !!!

Hi Everybody,

This is my first blog to the world. A lot has happened in my life over the last two years. We moved to India from CA, Naveen started his own company called mKhoj, I delivered a baby girl who is now 15 months old, I quit Accenture to figure out how I am going to juggle between Niyati and my career. Anyways this was a long story in short.

On a different note, my favorite place to visit in CA was Jamba Juice
and I always use to wonder why we don't have something like this in India. Now that I am in India and had quit Accenture, this is the right time for me to work on this idea. So I did!!! I tried various smoothies with different permutation combinations...Some of them were awful but most of them were a treat. I became more determined to introduce something like this in India. Now there are 2 questions that need an answer: Is this the right time to do this and if yes, how do I introduce this.
While I figure that out, I would like to share some of the recipes and news around smoothies and more.

Good Bye for Now!!
